Welcome

The Yorkshire Planetarium is an unusual place.

Not only do we have a world class Star Theatre but you will also find Yorkshire's first dedicated 3D Theatre and a staff who are excited by the subject and the place in which they work. .

Whether you are coming as part of an education visit, a corporate conference or as a Harewood House visitor, the Yorkshire Planetarium offers you a chance to marvel at our galaxy and perhaps, discover a little bit more about our place in Space.

2009 is an exciting year for the Yorkshire Planetarium with many events planned throughout the year.

The Yorkshire Planetarium at Harewood House remains open to both visitors and schools. Click here for the schedule. For the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009), entry to the planetarium is FREE with entrance to the gardens of Harewood House. Click here for prices.

Extending our celebration of IYA2009 we have also teamed up with the Universities of York and Sheffield to create Dark Skies. It's for all ages and all knowledge levels and includes 3D films, mini talks, mobile planetarium, Space Bus and night sky observation with local astronomy societies. It will take place at six venues in the region and the first date is the 21st March at the Yorkshire Air Museum. Later venues include the Ryedale Folk Museum, Wakefield Sculpture Park and the boating lake at Cleethorpes.

An exciting year and an exciting future! We'd like to share our enthusiasm with you so please contact us directly if you have any questions.
